No one does the holiday season better than Tinseltown…perfect blankets of white covering the ground, twinkling lights in the trees, sexy department store ladies selling you stockings, and kids getting lost in NYC…I could go on forever, baby! But everyone knows that getting a holiday themed gift is kinda lame (thanks for the gift, I guess I’ll use it next year?). For the cinephile in your life, why not cater to their tastes and get ‘em a classic Hollywood caliber gift this year!

1) Pee Wee’s Big Adventure poster 2) Pulp Fiction tee 3) Alice in Wonderland finger puppet 4) Marilyn Monroe finger puppet 5) Gotham City ring 6) The Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox book

I just got the new My Brightest Diamond record, All Things Will Unwind in the mail yesterday, and I’m in love. Seriously, if you haven’t heard of her, she’s fabulous. I saw her live several years ago when she was on tour for her 2006 album Bring Me The Workhorse and I fell head over heels for her vocals.

Just watch her latest video for the single off the new album and try not to smile. I dare you.

As a side note: I REALLY want to pull off that top of the head bun, but I think I might look like a freak. Hell, I might try it anyways.

You can listen to the whole album here.

I spent yesterday morning drooling over Karen Walker’s Spring 2012 collection from NYFW. Here it is the first day below 50 degrees and I’m dreaming of spring already, I mean OMFG *look* at this color palette! dreamy.

But what has me especially tickled is the hair, make up, and nails. If this isn’t the prefect look for spring, I just don’t know what is. Beside the pixie-esque make up and hair, check out the finishing detail–those mustardy yellow nails. I never in a million years thought that a fair skin tone such as I could rock such a color, but these pictures put me on a mission to try it. This is the kind of color guaranteed to make my mother say “That’s interesting

A little more research led me to read that for the show they mixed yellow and black polishes to create the perfect shade. A bit more research confirmed my suspicions–no one actually makes this color. After some serious trial and error, I realized without even asking my mother that she was right all along–I just ended up with some muddy baby poop nails. yummy.

I was discouraged, but this is my first post dammit and I wanted to do some new nails! I scratched the yellow idea and did some nails that were inspired by the collection’s color pallet instead. I used “rise and shine” Sinful nail polish (the color is pretty much a *perfect* match to the KW color) I did a little something I saw in pictures from NYFW where I painted my nails as if they had “grown out” a little bit. First I laid down a coat of clear polish, did the green, and then did a matte clear coat on top. I think they turned out pretty fresh, next I’ll have to figure out where to get my hands on that lip color!
